Employee Spotlight: Chely Loy

If JAS had a Special Forces team, 15-year veteran Chely Loy would be the team leader. Her work ethic, flexibility, and dependability are just a few of the characteristics we couldn’t do without.

Chely is no stranger to hard work as she grew up on a farm helping her family care for cattle, horses, donkeys, cats, dogs, chickens, and turkeys. When asked to help with something, you will most likely hear, “I’ll make it happen,” which is why she is a project manager, along with many other roles at JAS.

She has never been afraid to learn something new or jump in and help wherever she can. Chely uses her years of experience, knowledge, and flexibility to fill in wherever she can when team members need time off. Most recently, she covered for a team member throughout her maternity leave. Chely’s dependability and ability to flex into different roles at JAS make her an invaluable member of our team.

If you talk to her long enough, you will learn we are not the only ones who depend on her. Outside of JAS, Chely is the ultimate volunteer with a heart filled with love and compassion for her community. She is a member of the Effingham County Youth Commission, providing first-time youth offenders a positive alternative to juvenile court. She is also a member of the Pork Producers Board, assisting the organization in raising money to give back to the community each year.  With the funds, they donate hams during the holidays to Catholic Charities, provide monetary donations to local community members in need, donate to Shop with a Cop, and more.

Additionally, Chely has worked at the county fair since she was 15 years old. Eight years ago, she became the youngest elected member of the Effingham County Fair Board. As part of her responsibilities, she manages many aspects of the event, including gates, parking, the Queen Pageant, social media updates, and so much more. She also assists the 4H Auction Committee, where they help 4H members sell their animals to the public.

Chely is truly one-in-a-million, and I’m not even finished yet.  As her side gig, she has been a wedding event coordinator for 17 years, making brides’ dreams come true.

Although busy, she always makes time for her boyfriend, family, and friends. We cannot say enough positive things about Chely. She adds so much value to our team, and we are incredibly grateful for her commitment to the JAS family.
