Hand Care 2022

Joint Active Systems (JAS) had the privilege of exhibiting at Hand Care 2022 from Thursday, April 21st to Saturday, April 23rd. Regional Sales Manager, Ross Willman attended the event with Dylan Davidson from Heartland Medical, LLC, our newest JAS Sales Representative for the greater Indianapolis area. Indiana Hand to Shoulder Therapy Center has been hosting this event since 1984 to share clinical knowledge to advance their practice and quality of patient care.

The course included lecture presentations, hands-on orthotic labs, exhibits, and panel discussions. 233 clinicians from across the nation attended the event, including occupational therapists, certified hand therapists, physical therapists, physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.

The comprehensive format for the course is designed around the dynamics of a team approach for upper extremity care. A multi-modal approach is most effective in treating many upper extremity injuries and post-surgical challenges. JAS is proud to be a part of the team approach used as an adjunct to any therapy intervention during the rehabilitation process. Following an injury or surgical intervention, patients may experience adhesion build-up, decreased range of motion, or a loss of neurological function. The earlier JAS can be implemented in conjunction with therapy, the shorter the time the patient will need to use the device.

At the JAS booth, clinicians viewed our full upper extremity line of bidirectional devices. Many competitive splint brands work in one direction requiring two devices for patients with bidirectional ROM loss, doubling device costs, and prolonging rehab. JAS bidirectional devices simplify treatment by combining multiple directions in one unit, eliminating additional order processing and reducing rehabilitation time.

Many clinicians stopped by our booth to pick up multi-purpose clips, which can be used during therapy.  The clips can be used for digit strengthening or to apply pressure to the skin between the thumb and index finger to reduce pain.

Many therapists discussed how generic-sized devices are not as effective or comfortable. One size does not fit all, so JAS uses specific patient measurements to fabricate custom cuffs, reducing migration while increasing soft tissue capture. Patient comfort leads to better compliance, and therapists expressed their satisfaction with patients reaching their ROM goals.

JAS is the market leader for adjunctive range of motion therapy and is committed to meeting the unique needs of each individual patient. Hand Care 2022 exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to fostering the connections we made at the event.
