Innovative Solutions for Amputee Contractures: Empowering Patients to Regain Range of Motion
At Joint Active Systems, our mission is to help patients reclaim their range of motion and improve their quality of life. During National Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month, we’re proud to highlight how we’re making a difference for individuals who have lost a limb, especially those facing the challenges of regaining mobility and independence.
For many below-the-knee amputees, developing contractures after surgery is a common challenge. In some cases, the residual limb may be too short to accommodate traditional cuffing methods, which makes it difficult to apply the necessary torque to effectively stretch the joint. These limitations can make it especially challenging for amputees to walk comfortably and safely in a prosthesis.
That’s where Joint Active Systems steps in. We understand that regaining range of motion (ROM) is crucial for amputees to walk properly and live independently. By working closely with our Orthotist Prosthetist and Design Engineer, we’re able to provide innovative solutions for amputee contractures to meet the specific needs of each patient.
The images below illustrate some examples of the impact of our work.
At Joint Active Systems, we are passionate about finding ROM solutions that empower our patients. Each success story fuels our commitment to innovation and excellence in developing devices that help people regain their mobility. It was truly rewarding to be a part of the journey to restore movement, confidence, and freedom for these amputee patients.ring Patients to Regain Range of Motion
