Employee Spotlight: Melissa Loy

Melissa Loy, or Mel, as we call her, has been a critical part of the Joint Active Systems (JAS) family for 7 years in our assembly department, specializing in the dynamic product line. Although she is quiet, it has not kept us from discovering the many outstanding qualities she brings to our organization.

Several long-term JAS team members retired over the past couple of years. In preparation for the transition, Mel took time to absorb the knowledge our key staff had to offer before their departure, which grew her confidence tremendously. As the retirement celebrations came and went, Mel remained a steady resource the team could count on. She is one of our silent stars, never publicizing her accomplishments or expecting recognition, yet she is a crucial part of our day-to-day operations, contributing to our overall productivity. It is clear Mel leads by example and continuously mentors those around her. Some of the team members she works closely with point out what a knowledgeable and patient trainer she is, which has grown an even more profound respect and appreciation for her role in our organization. Mel is dependable and flexible, always willing to work additional hours to ensure our patient devices ship out on time.

Mel’s steadfast personality bubbles over into her personal life as well. Others can count on her, including her parents, who she moved in with, to assist with their health concerns. When she isn’t working, Mel spends every weekend from April to November camping with her parents, fiancé Shane, and her bonus children Dalton and Emma. The three dogs, Toby, Luna, and Suzy like to tag along too. The entire family enjoys taking rides on the side by side and enjoying the fresh air during their camping adventures. When Mel gets time to herself, she enjoys thrift shopping and crafting, especially with her Cricut machine.

Silent stars tend to be overlooked, but at JAS, we know people like Melissa are our most valuable assets. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to everyone around you.

Keep shining Mel.
